students meet monday through thursday (no regular programming fridays)
regularly attending students earn a total of $575 and are paid every 2 weeks


All programs take place at Rocking the Boat 812 Edgewater Road, Bronx, NY

boatbuilding

Students in the boatbuilding program will build two small traditional wooden sailboats from scratch. They learn all aspects of the boatbuilding process including reading boat plans, creating the molds around which the boat is built and designing planks. Students create something that is not only beautiful but really works.

Learn all aspects of traditional wooden boatbuilding

Spend a half day each week rowing and sailing on the Bronx River

Receive swimming instruction a half day each week

Spend five days rowing and sailing 35 miles from Greenwich, CT to Hunts Point

10am-4pm (includes 1 hour lunch break)

on-water

The On-Water Program combines Maritime Skills and Environmental Restoration. Students will embark on half and full-day adventures exploring the waterways surrounding the Bronx. They will learn navigation techniques and act as caretakers, working to improve the ecological health of the Bronx waterways.

Learn the skills of water safety, rowing, fishing and navigation using maps, compasses and row boats

Discover the natural environment of the Bronx and work to restore its habitats

Receive swimming instruction a half day each week

Spend five days rowing and sailing 35 miles from Hunts Point to Greenwich. CT
