Boat Commission
boat commissions

For more than 10 years, Rocking the Boat has built boats to help "build kids" in one of the most challenging urban environments in the country. Students who struggled to read a ruler before joining the Boatbuilding Program learn the high level math, carpentry, logic, and teamwork skills to complete a beautiful wooden boat over the course of a 13-week semester. Until now, nearly every finished boat has remained in Rocking the Boat's own fleet, being used for educational programming. After many years of people asking, "Do you commission boats?" the answer is finally YES! In commissioning a boat from Rocking the Boat you not only get a great boat, you support the development of young men and women seeking to improve their lives through the medium of wooden boat building.
